This work was inspired by the incredible coral rocks of the Utah canyons.  The abstraction also incorporates cloud formations to break rules of form in ordinary landscape, by being at the bottom of the painting as opposed to the top.  This nebular quality is a hallmark in Julia's work, the motif being a signifier of softness.  There is always an avoidance of hard angles or geometry in her portfolio as she sees her work as part of creating openings for meditative or contemplative still states.
